... really?I was sitting in the theater towards the end of the film after a pivotal moment (which seems somewhat less pivotal as the significance of the event is only briskly touched upon) when the thought occured to me: wow, so they've just capitalized on this act of bonding and heroism... how are they going to handle the rather delicate ending?
Shortly afterwards, as the screen faded to black and the credits began to roll, it occurred to me that they wouldn't.
And that's kinda how the film panned out.
I hate to sound like a snob, but unless you've already done so, you really truly are better off just reading the book. But if you already have, there are worse ways to spend an afternoon. In any case I am glad I saw it and despite my critcisms, I did manage to enjoy it.
Now excuse me whle I go validate my opinions by reading some critics' takes.
[Also (1) THAT'S NOT supposed to be BILLY, but even with that conceit (2) BILLY WAS SUPPOSED TO DIE.]
