As I may have noted previously, our neighborhood was among several in Roseville which has been recently upgraded to fiber, making us now eligible (after a substantial hike in monthly fees) for a broadband connection of up to 50 Mbps upstream and downstream.

More surprising, my dad has seen fit to give it a try for a month or two. As of next Sunday, we're set to see a more than 8x increase in throughput from our existing 6/1.5 Mbps DSL.

So the question stands: how do you even begin to use that?
I mean, I'm sure I'll end up setting myself up with a good newsserver plan (for mostly benign purposes), but what other applications might benefit from the bandwidth?
